Full score on Swedish soil again!

Back on Swedish soil again after the Euros.

The fourth leg of the Swedish LSOR Cup was held in Slottsbron. A track I have described before as one of the most unique track with its wood chip based surface which makes it very soft and create huge holes as well as getting stuck in the wheel houses and transmission. It also feature a huge bridge that crosses the track and some super slippery parts that make choosing tires tricky.

Every year the club that hosts this race raises the bar of the event and so they did this year as well. The track was pretty much the same but the pits were larger, the food was better and the spectator section was full. This event is really nice to attend apart from the actual racing.

I've driven at this track som many time that I'm pretty comfortable with the setup of the car and it was actually not that far apart from the setup at the Starec track. You just need to raise the car up and add some more droop. The practice went well and confirmed the setup and how to choose racing lines. I was a little bit surprised on how slippery the track was underneath the bridge so this is where you need to take it easy to not get stuck there.

I started almost last in qualification round as I have missed one race and the starting order is based on the total standing in the cup. I worked myself up and finished first but with quite a small margin as other drivers were fast as well.

I started on pole in the 1/8 final but got tangled up on the first lap so I hade to drive myself up through the filed. These are usually when I enjoy the racing the most to get some fights on the track. It was very close but I managed to get to the top in the second to last lap.

Between each race you have to clean your drive line and your wheel houses as it gathers a lot of material there and it makes the car heavy and the driveline doesn't rotate freely at all. The op ben diffs also get clogged up and you need to clean each teeth in the gears.

The quarter final was less dramatic, I did a couple of mistakes as the track is now so bumpy it's almost impossible to avoid any mistakes. But I was in the lead most of the time and could win quite comfortably.

The semi final was probably the best race of the day where I don't think I needed any marshaling and had the best time even if the track was now in a pretty bad shape. There is no ideal line, you have to be really smart and tactile through the whole track. There are very few places you can go full throttle, it's so easy to get the car to flip over.

For the final I had won all the previous heats giving me full score and to start in pole position. I got a clean good start and could build up a small gap to the field when the second car flipped over on the second lap. After 10 minutes I had lapped some cars and had about half a lap down to the second car. At this time I started to pace myself not to make any stupid mistakes and get out of the flow. At the same time you can't be too conservative. I have learnt that lesson before when you get caught from behind and then it's hard to get up to speed again.

I didn't do any mistakes, in contrast to the quarter finals in the Euros, and managed to take the win and a full score of 200 points. Good for the cup total and some margin going into the final race in Falköping in September.

The Phoenix car, my RV Racing engine and all my equipment worked great. Not a single failure or problem. This makes everything come down to my own skills and that is how I want it.
